Port of Tallinn services

Throughout history, the Port of Tallinn in Estonia has served as a meeting facility on the trade lines between the East and West. The Tallinn Port also offers ferry services to destinations in Sweden and Finland. The capital of Tallinn is the country's rich cultural city and it has a moving past, while also being excellently linked to the other Baltic nations.

Today, the Tallinn ferry passenger terminals handle around six million persons per year. Facilities at the terminals include a coffee shop, several shopping outlets and comfortable departure concourses. The port is a good facility for both cruise liners and passenger ferry services, and during the high season (summer months), it also services high-speed crafts.

There are daily ferry services operated between Tallinn and the Swedish capital of Stockholm and the Finnish capital of Helsinki. In addition, there are two weekly crossings to the Port of Rostock in northern Germany.

The main ferry companies which provide services to Helsinki include Tallink, running nine daily sailings; Silja Line, which operates five sailings per day; and Viking Line, which offers two daily ferry services. The duration of the sea voyage onboard a conventional ferry is about 3 hours. Nordic Jet Lines operates nine daily sailings onboard high-speed vessels, with a sailing time of only 1 hour, 40 minutes.

Distance between the two capitals is just 50 miles (80kms). Due to the short sailing time, the city of Tallinn has become a well-visited daytrip destination for Fins, who appreciate that they can buy more with their money in the Estonian capital.

Tallink operates one daily ferry service between Tallin and Stockholm. Travel time is approximately 6 hours. Silja Line runs two weekly sailings to Rostock and St Petersburg. The voyage to Rostock Port in the north of Germany has a sailing duration of 25 hours, while the sea voyage to the Russian Port of St Petersburg lasts 13 hours.

All crafts provide designated features for physically handicapped passengers. Areas onboard are accessible by wheelchair including specially designed toilets. Help regarding boarding the crafts can be arranged by notifying the ferry operator at the time of booking.
