Haugesund Ferry Port

The DFDS route between Bergen-Haugesund-Stavanger and Newcastle has ceased operating, as from the 1st September 2008.
There is a domestic catamaran ferry service to the Norwegian ports of Bergen and Stavanger.

Haugesund is in a seaport town in south-west Norway near Stavanger. The town extends over the small islands of Risoy, which has a modern harbour, and Hasseloy. It is an important fishing and processing centre for herring, mackerel, and lobster. Haugesund has an art gallery and a city museum, and is the site of the annual Norwegian film festival. A little to the north is Haraldshaugen, reputedly the burial place of Harold I, the 10th-century king who united Norway.

Port of Haugesund services

Haugesund car ferry port is situated a stone's throw from the town centre, on the island of Risøy in southwest Norway. The town is positioned at a strategically pivotal sound, through which vessels can navigate without facing the heavy sea, with the small islands of Rvr and Karmy largely sheltering the port from the rough waters.

Haugesund is an excellent base to begin a self-drive holiday, particularly for those travelling to Hardanger. During the Winter months skiers are drawn by the excellent snow conditions in the nearby mountains.

The harbour is a ten minute walk from the centre of the town which is a gathering place for the whole Haugaland region with a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars.

During the last two decades, the town has strongly established its position as a centre of commerce for the southern parts of Hordaland and Haugaland.

For those wishing to park for long periods, car parking spaces can be found on the other side of the Flotmyr Bus Station and nearby, at the Sport Stadium. Car parking is also available in Sørhauggaten and Skåregaten, and the town itself provides metered parking options.
