Transport to and from Caen

From the Port of Caen there are sufficient land transportation options available. Arriving passengers can use private taxis, bus and train services. Alternatively you could rent a car and travel to your destination at your own leisure.

Bus and shuttles from Caen

A shuttle service is operational between the Ouistreham ferry terminal and the nearby city of Caen. Once you arrive in the town, you'll find bus services to a number of regional localities are available. Since November 2002 a modern guided bus system serves the city of Caen as well.

Car hire and road travel from Caen

Motorists approaching from Paris should follow the A13 motorway through Rouen prior to taking the fork for Caen then follow signs to the ferry port and Ouistreham. The ride lasts approximately 2 hours, 30 minutes.

Reputable car rental firms are represented in Caen for visitors wishing to hire a vehicle. It is, however, highly advisable that you book in advance online before you arrive in Caen. If they are all occupied, passengers can book a taxi from the tourist information counter inside the ferry terminal. Taxis provide the fastest and most convenient way of transport.
