Transport to and from Belfast

Belfast port is located nearby the city centre, making it possible to reach the city from the port quickly. Bus, road and railway connections provide excellent connections with other parts of Northern Ireland.

Just a short walk from the passenger ferry terminal, Laganside bus centre is conveniently accessed. National Bus Company's buses run to local destinations while the Expressway provides long distance and intercity services. Buses in Northern Ireland are a convenient, inexpensive and reliable way to get around Belfast and to farther away destinations.

Car hire and road travel from Belfast

Due to Belfast's location near the centre of the city, the port is easy to reach by car. When approaching the port from West Belfast, you can effortlessly find your way by following the West Link motorway until you reach Falls Slip road.

There are several car rental companies represented in Northern Ireland's capital, so it is not difficult to arrange car hire once you arrive in the city; however, it is advisable to book car hire in advance online, where one service provides the best value deals from a collection of various well known car rental companies, including Hertz, Budget and Avis.

Rail from Belfast port

Belfast port is not linked by a direct train service. However, there is an option of taking a bus from the nearby Laganside bus centre to Belfast's central train station, which is situated on East Bridge street. By foot, the railway station can be reached within 20 minutes. From Belfast Central railway station, frequent trains depart to destinations including Dublin Connolly, Bangor, Londonderry, Larne and Portadown. After several attacks during a period of political turmoil, the train station reopened in 1976 and has undergone drastic renovations in recent years.

Parking at Belfast port

The SeaCat terminal provides a set-down and pick-up parking area. Long duration parking is provided by a pay-and-display car park. Additionally long-term and short-term parking spaces are available at the Stena Line terminal. Parking rates are reasonable. You'll have to keep the parking voucher with you until you wish to leave the car park.

Taxis from Belfast port

Most of the time, taxis are waiting at the port for arriving passenger ferries. If you cannot find any available, you can always use the free phone in the terminal or you can book a Value Cabs taxi prior to arrival.
