The Port Of Yarmouth
Yarmouth is situated on the Isle of Wight and is an idyllic yachting, ferry and fishing port, widely reputed as one of the south coast's jewels. The deep water harbour still has its old-world ambience.
It is a small town and the harbour dominates with its all year round patronage and popularity with yachtsmen. It also acts as the gateway to the island, with the shortest car ferry crossing from the Solent, Wightlink's service from Yarmouth to Lymington takes around 30 minutes.
The port was famous for many years because of its base in the herring industry. Although most have been converted, there are still many old smokehouses in existence around the port. The town is well stocked for chandlery and provisions, and visitors will find plenty of accommodation options, restaurants and cafe's on offer.
