The Port Of Weymouth
The port at Weymouth has a long recorded history of activity based around its shore. From Roman times it has played an important part of life for the people of Dorset and its surrounds.
It is the only port in the world to have hosted the start to the Cutty Sark Tall Ships race on three separate occasions as well as hosting the start/finish legs of the international biennial Starmanche yacht race running from France to Ireland via Weymouth and back to France.
It remains the port with the largest annual fish tonnage in England. It is managed and controlled by the local Borough Council with up to date facilities for handling both passengers and freight all year round.
