Port of Varberg services

The merchant Port of Varberg is located in the middle of the west coast in Sweden and is owned and operated by Terminal West. For the Varberg region, shipping has always been very important. Throughout history, the facility has been a pivotal exporter of local agricultural products; a significant reason for the development of Varberg is its nearby distance to a vital port. Several times the town has been moved, before Varberg ended up in its present location.

Nowadays, the port is very-well equipped and capable of handling a wide array of goods. The facility has successively developed and extended to be capable of handling an increased level of cargo and bigger ships.

A new outer harbour - Farehamnen - was constructed in 1996, and in 2003, a further 160 metres of quay were completed. In total, Terminal West can now provide a total of 430 metres of quay, with a depth of 11 metres. The Port of Varberg mainly handles freight traffic. There is just one passenger ferry service operated from the port. Stena Line operates two daily services between Varberg and the Port of Grenaa in Denmark.
