The Port Of Troon
Situated on the west coast of Scotland, Troon has established itself as an important ferry and fishing port. It is the closest fishing port to the United Kingdom.
Located just north of Ayr and Prestwick, it also benefits from great connections via road and rail to Glasgow, Paisley, Ayr and Newcastle. Troon is the Scottish half of two major ferry routes departing for Northern Ireland.
Seacat sail from Troon to Belfast ferry port while P & O Irish Sea sends their ferries to Larne. An investment of £5 million in the new ro-ro facility will serve the requirements of P&O Irish Sea, which has been operating its twice-daily Scotland/Ireland freight service from Troon Harbour since 2001.
