How to Add a Pet to Your Stena Ferry Booking

Stena Line allows you to take your pet on board with you on most of its routes. Some routes have restricted availability - Please check below before you book your ticket.

To add a pet to your booking you must either:

Call us on +44 (0) 1793 707567 (Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.30) or email us with your ticket number and requirements.

We will then add your pet(s) to your booking and re email your ticket showing the extra charge.

THERE IS NO AMENDMENT CHARGE FOR DOING THIS.

Travelling With A Pet Abroad

Below is information on the basic requirements and current prices for Stena Ferries.

For full information for those wishing to take their pets abroad under the Pets Passport Scheme further information can be obtained from the DEFRA website.

Please Note: Check-in time for passengers travelling with animals is between 1 hour & 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

 

Traveling with a pet onboard Stena Line

Stena Charges
Hook of Holland - Harwich:

Passengers can bring their pet provided it stays inside the vehicle during the crossing or inside a kennel on the car deck. Pets are not allowed to enter the passenger deck.

The costs of pet travel are £15 per single crossing.

Pets have to meet the following conditions:

1. Pets must have a valid pet passport.

2. Pets must be micro-chipped, a permanent registration of the animal.

3. Pets must have undergone a blood test, at least 6 months prior to departure.

4. Your pet must be treated for worms and ticks. This treatment should be administered between 24 and 48 hours prior to check-in.

Frederikshavn - Oslo:

Pet travel is possible provided the following terms and conditions are met:

1. Passengers travelling with pets must book a special cabin (4-berth cabin outside).

2. The pet has to stay inside the cabin during the crossing.

3. There is a special area where you can walk your dog on the outside deck.

4. Pet travel is bound to the conditions of the EU pet passport. Stena request you read these conditions thoroughly before making the booking.

Kiel - Gothenburg: (LIMITED)

Pet travel is possible provided the following terms and conditions are met:

1. Passengers are required to book a special cabin for your trip (4-berth cabin outside, animals allowed).

2. Pets must remain inside your cabin during the crossing; a special area where you can walk your dog is situated on the same deck.

3. Pets are NOT allowed in the public areas.

4. There is restricted availability on the sailings.

5. Stena advise you to consult your veterinarian for the Swedish regulations/customs requirements.

Frederikshavn - Gothenburg:

(LIMITED)

Stena Nautica/Danica and Jutlandica: - there are assigned dog areas (inside). Passengers can choose to leave the dog inside the vehicle or take it on deck.
Stena Express: Pet travel is only allowed when the pet remains inside the car.No pet travel during the months June till August.
Stena Danica:. Pets remain inside the car or at a designated area on deck 9. Pets cannot stay in the car during June - August.
Stena Jutlandica: Inside car or at an assigned area on deck 7.
Stena Nautica: Inside car or at an assigned area on deck 7.
If the ferryStena Germanica/Scandinavica is put in service in the peak season on the route Frederiskhavn - Gothenburg pet travel is not allowed.

1. When the pet stays in the car there are no costs. Otherwise the costs will be £ 5.00 per pet, per single crossing. No additional costs apply on the Express.

2. Pets have to be reported 45 minutes prior to departure.

3. When the pet is kept inside the car this must be reported at check in.

4. The car cannot be accessed during the crossing.

5. Pet owners are solely responsible for the pet and the required documents.

6. Stena advise you consult your veterinarian for the Swedish regulations/ customs requirements.

Generally there are no charges for guide dogs. Please contact us prior to your booking.
