Port of Scrabster services

Positioned near the popular town of Turso, in Scotland's far north, the Port of Scrabster makes it possible to reach the remote Outer Orkney Islands by ferry. The Orkney Islands lie off Scotland's northern coast and the Port of Scrabster serves about 100,000 passengers annually, almost 50 percent of that number in their own cars. If you would like to take your vehicle you should inform staff at the ferry terminal one hour before departure.

Because of recent redevelopment of the passenger terminal and the harbour at Scrabster port, larger and more capable vessels can now enter the port. Amenities are fairly limited, however, sustenance and a new walkway provided by the Peerie Café provides easy access to vessels. An on-site car park with short-term and long-term car parking is provided as well.

There is only one ferry company operating out of the Port of Scrabster, providing the only route the port has to offer. NorthLink sails the route between Scrabster and Stromness on the Outer Orkneys. Combined passenger and vehicle ferries make three daily return journeys on weekdays and two daily crossings on weekends.

In addition to the Northlink passenger and car sailings to Stromness, there is also a regular freight ferry crossing from Scrabster to the Faroe Islands via Faroe Line, which runs all year round.
