Port of Haugesund services

Haugesund car ferry port is situated a stone's throw from the town centre, on the island of Risøy in southwest Norway. The town is positioned at a strategically pivotal sound, through which vessels can navigate without facing the heavy sea, with the small islands of Røvær and Karmøy largely sheltering the port from the rough waters.

Not many vehicles get on or off at the Port of Haugesund, but it can be an excellent base or finishing point for a self-drive vacation, particularly for those travelling to Hardanger, while during the winter months, the skiing areas and nearby mountains should not be missed. The town has become an increasing popular travel destination due to the many attractions of historical interest and relatively recent archaeological finds.

The Port of Haugesund is the departure and arrival point for overnight ferry services coming in from the Port of Newcastle in England. There are three weekly ferry services operated by Fjord Line. The duration of the sea voyage is approximately 21 hours, 30 minutes. In addition, there is a domestic catamaran ferry service to the Norwegian ports of Bergen and Stavanger.

Facilities at the port aren't extensive; however, the centre of the town can be reached within a 10-minute walk. In the town, which acts as a gathering place for the whole Haugaland region, you'll find a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars. Haugesund is one of the nation's most vital points of commerce.

During the last two decades, the town has strongly established its position as a centre of commerce for the southern parts of Hordaland and Haugaland. The town boasts several relatively spacious shopping centres, considering the compactness of this coastal town.

For those wishing to park for long periods, car parking spaces can be found on the other side of the Flotmyr Bus Station and nearby, at the Sport Stadium. Car parking is also available in Sørhauggaten and Skåregaten, and the town itself provides metered parking options.
