DFDS Seaways Ferry Company

DFDS Seaways is a section of the DFDS Group of Companies, one of the biggest in Denmark. The letters DFDS come from the company's original name, under which it was founded in 1866 (Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab).

In 2005, the Danish operator carried 1.6 million persons and 216,000 vehicles onboard their fleet of six highly advanced, well-equipped and modern passenger liners.

The company's operational crafts provide a wide range of onboard business amenities and leisure options. This successful and long established company, whose reputation is based on first-class passenger service, guarantees a smooth and trouble-free voyage. All their employees, whether onboard or ashore, are determined to deliver first-class service.

DFDS Seaways sails three weekly times from Haugesund to the Port of Newcastle. The voyage is long and takes about 21 hours, 30 minutes. The MS Princess of Norway operates along this route. This vessel is the newest addition to the company's fleet. The ship was built in 1986 and it was entirely renovated in 2006. The craft can accommodate 1,600 passengers and has space for 580 cars. Maximum cruising speed is 20 knots.

Onboard passenger facilities include: comfortable cabins, money exchange service, children's play area, two restaurants, a coffee shop, three bars, conference amenities, shops and a variety of entertainment.
