Harwich Port is situated on the east coast of England on the southern side of the River Stour in Essex. It is one of the UK's leading passenger and freight ferry terminals with approximately one million passengers passing through annually, travelling on ferries to the Netherlands and Denmark.
The port was redeveloped in 1997, after which Harwich was able to accommodate even more berths for both passenger and freight vessels.
Since then Harwich has built on its reputation for handling ferry services in particular to Holland, Denmark, Germany and Sweden. Harwich ferry port is a highly efficient, modern, multipurpose port, and has become one of the UK's most important North Sea ferry ports.

Harwich Port facility is operated and owned by the powerful Hutchison Port Holdings, which is the largest independent port operator.
The terminal offers air-conditioning, comfortable lounges, a currency exchange service, shops and an efficient, high capacity check-in system. The terminal building provides adapted toilets for physically disabled passengers and elevators provide wheelchair accessibility.
Stena Line provides two daily ferry services to the Hook of Holland in the Netherlands the voyage takes about 3 hours 45 minutes. This crossing is available for both cargo and passengers.
DFDS Seaways operate a three weekly crossings from Harwich to Esbjerg on the west coast of Denmark, with a sailing time of approximately 18 hours 15 minutes.
