Fleetwood tourist guide - hotels and services

A lovely, if low-key, English coastal retreat, Fleetwood could be an enjoyable stop-off before or after your ferry journey. The waterfront is Fleetwood's principal spot of entertainment, offering sailing trips, beach walks and water sports. The nearby popular tourist destination of Blackpool boasts many more attractions, with man-made highlights and a fun fair being more the focus.

For something a little more sedate, visit one of Fleetwood's lighthouses. Located in the town, both the Upper and Lower lighthouses are still fully operational. Alternatively, pay a visit to the Mount Craft Centre, where locally handcrafted goods are available for viewing and purchase.

Although Fleetwood is hardly considered a tourist magnet, it is well placed along this stretch of the coastline and its close proximity to Blackpool is handy. Balckpool itself is rather dated and neglected in favour of better value affordable destinations abroad but still retains that original English seasinde feel. It's rather tacky amusement centre on the waterfront is popular for stag dos, company outings and cheap getaways.

Fleetwood, being close to Blackpool, does have a few places in which to stay and ferry arrivals do stay over to enjoy the entertainment of Blackpool centre. Blackpool has traditionally been a popular seaside town for Northern England and caters well with its numerous hotels and B&Bs. None of them are particularly chic or modern but there is usually an oversupply due to the town's waning popularity.
