The port of Dover provides three ferry services run by three experienced and established shipping companies: SeaFrance and P&O Ferries both offers sailings between Dover and Calais; L D Lines operates the Dover-Boulogne route and Norfolkline sails between Dover and Dunkerque.
Dover to Calais ferries
Recently Hoverspeed has discontinued its cross channel ferry crossings between Dover and Calais in France. Calais is the chief port of access into Europe from the United Kingdom and the port boasts excellent passenger amenities featuring ATMs, money exchange service, and numerous eateries and outlets. P&O Ferries offers up to 22 daily return voyages on the Dover-Calais route modern and highly advanced ferries, with a voyage time of about 1 hour, 15 minutes. SeaFrance operates this route as well, but with a decreased sailing time of 75 minutes. SeaFrance operates 15 daily return sailings.
Dover to Dunkerque ferries
Norfolkline Ferry Company offers up to 12 daily return voyages between Dover and France's Dunkirk with a sailing time of about two hours, depending on the actual weather conditions. The Port of Dunkirk in France is one of the country's busiest; within Northern France's a huge catchment area. The Norfolkline Terminal has sufficient amenities, including a number of shops and a relaxing lounge. Dunkirk is a convenient gateway into France providing fast access to nearby The Netherlands and Belgium and highways to Germany, Switzerland and many more European countries.
Dover to Boulogne ferries
L D Lines new route launched in 2009 offers 4 daily sailings between Dover and France's largest fishing port in Boulogne. The duration of the trip is 1 hour 45 minutes. Passenger amenities are fairly limited at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, with a convenience shop, and a newsagent. However, there is a tourist information service situated near the ferry terminal. The town is just a 200m walk from the port and there is a good selection of restaurants which can be found near the harbour.
