The Port Of Cuxhaven
Cuxhaven in Germany attracts tourists for its diversity and charm. Fishing, horse riding and camping are popular with travellers to this area. With over 10 km of beaches to enjoy.
Cuxhaven has been transporting tourists since 1866 when it was a route from Hamburg to the Isle of Helgoland. It then became an important port of embarkation for millions of emigrants from Eastern Europe and Germany.
The famous White Star Line also used the port for routes between Cuxhaven and Canada until 1954. Transatlantic travel at Cuxhaven port ended in 1969 due to the boom in air travel. Today ferries travel regularly from East England via the ferry port of Harwich with DFDS Seaways.
