Each day several services depart, in the morning, afternoon and overnight, with an additional a high-speed service. On Wednesdays there are only two sailings available, but there is not really a seasonal change in operations, with the exception of the fast services during the winter months.

The Caen to Portsmouth crossings are operated by Brittany Ferries who offers three daily services. The duration of the sea voyage aboard the conventional ferries is about six hours while aboard a high-speed craft the journey only lasts 3 hours, 45 minutes. The three crafts which serve the route include the Normandie Express, the Mont St Michel and the Normandie.
