Two-thirds of Brits expect to book hildays online this year

According to the results of a recent survey, a large number of British people will be booking their holidays over the internet this year.

In order to get the results of the survey, more than 1,200 people were surveyed by international home-stay network Crashpadder.com. The results were significant as they showed that an incredible 72% of people intend to use the internet to research their holiday this year. This figure has risen dramatically as only last year it was reported to be at just 64%.

In addition to this ground breaking shift in travelling trends, it was discovered that around two thirds of people are planning to book their holiday online, which is an increase from the 55% that did so last year.

The UK has become significantly popular as a holiday destination, and an incredible 71% of respondents stated that they were planning to take a domestic break in 2010, which is up from 65% last year.

Consumers are increasingly using the internet to take advantage of lower prices, transparency and simplicity, according to Crashpadder.com.

Stephen Rapoport the founder of Crashpadder.com. In a recent interview he stated that: “The internet is a powerful tool when it comes to big purchases like holidays. Aside from generally lower prices, people can read hundreds of impartial reviews on locations, hotels and airlines, as well as compare packages directly. It's a level of transparency which traditional travel agents simply can't offer.”

While this is great news for travel companies who market themselves through the internet, it seems that many traditional high street branches may soon be seeing a dramatic decrease in business.
