Super fast ferries will connect North Devon with South Wales in 50 minutes

The big news that the entire UK travel industry is buzzing about at the moment is the launch of a new ferry service from Ilfracombe to Swansea. Run by Severn Link, this speedy catamaran passenger service is set to transform the face of travel within the UK.

With the new superfast service, passengers will be able to travel from North Devon to South Wales in as little as 50 minutes. Where once this journey took a few hours, visitors can now hop between Wales and Devon in a matter of minutes, taking the time to do a spot of shopping, seeing the sites and relaxing at a café with a cup of tea.

Chris Marrow is the founder of Severn Link. In a recent interview he revealed that: "I have started ferry services in other parts of the world but I have always looked at the Bristol Channel and thought really there should be ferries there. Every other long stretch of water in the world like that, that I'm aware of, does have active ferry services."

It is expected that the new service will help to regenerate interest in travel by ferry and boost holiday figures within the UK. As Mr Marrow adds: "There is no question a lot of people are spending their holidays in the UK at the moment and in many ways I think it's the absolute ideal time to be starting.”

The travel industry within the UK and abroad has taken quite a beating over the last year as people reduced their spending in light of the global recession. Many people predict that this new service will generate interest once more in travel within the UK and create work for hundreds of people.
