Millions of people continue to travel to potential danger zones despite government warning

There are certain risks that people are willing to take, despite the dangers. With some, the pleasure of smoking or drinking is worth the health threats, while others compete in extreme sports for the adrenaline rush.

Then there are those that habitually visit countries where there are risks from war or disease. Even though the governments and tourist boards of certain countries advise against it, people still flock to these places.

The most recent example is Mexico, where the outbreak of Swine Flu is doing little to diminish tourist numbers. Despite the warnings, large numbers of tourists continue to go wherever their hearts lead them.

However, CDC spokeswoman Shelly Diaz commented to CNN recently that the warnings are issued with go reason and should be heeded. "Your health should come before your wallet. There's nothing more valuable than your health," she said. "We are recommending that people avoid travel to Mexico unless it's essential. I don't know that a really good travel bargain makes it essential."

However, people continue to flock to Mexico and other “dangerous” countries, perhaps because they find the allure of the unknown too strong to resist.
