Irish Ferries rules the Irish Sea

The British Travel Awards were handed out recently, and Irish Ferries found themselves in the king's chair as they were honoured with two awards for their ferry services that run between Ireland and England.

The Travel Trade Gazette magazine sponsored the awards, dubbing Irish Ferries 'Ferry Operator Of The Year', despite stiff competition form operators sailing from the North Sea, the Irish Sea and the English Channel.

37 industry experts made up the panel that voted for the winners, and they gave Irish Ferries a second award in the category of Best Ferry Company on the Irish Sea. The awards are not just another excuse to pat people on the shoulder, they are taken quite seriously and the Wall Street Journal recently equated the British Travel Awards to the industry equivalent of the Oscars.

Irish Ferries has won the award for best ferry in the Irish Sea ten times so far, but this marks the first time the operator has managed to be recognized as the best among all other operators in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
