Acciona Trasmediterranea has a fleet of 45 ships and it's Head Office is in Barcelona, Spain. In 1978 Acciona Trasmediterranea became a state owned company and their whole fleet and passenger terminals were completely renovated and agin in 1990 further enhancements and renewals were made to their fleet.

Acciona Trasmediterránea (Transmed) has one of the most modern and best equipped fleets in Europe, having embraced the latest technological advances in terms of safety and quality regarding on board services.

In 1980 Acciona Transmed launched a High Speed Jet Foil ferry service in the Canary Islands. This meant a crossing time between the two Canary Island capitals of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz with the Jet Foil has now reduced to just 80 minutes. This service has proved to be more popular than initially expected and Trasmediterránea has purchased additional Jet Foil craft and 3 now operate between the two capitals.

Acciona now operates modern multi-purpose, ro-pax and ro-ro ferries, vehicle-carrying fast catamarans and monohull ferries and jet foils. As well as being very fast, the Acciona Trasmediterránea Ferries are equipped to offer the best in comfort and luxury with many ships offering facilities such as swimming pools, cinemas and discos. In addition onboard there are bars and restaurants, duty free shops and most are now air conditioned.
