Once a naval base, the facility now offers modern and new amenities. The harbour itself is situated in Scotland's wonderful county of Fife, with its coastal, idyllic fishing villages. The port provides outstanding access to significant Scottish centres, with the city of Glasgow just 40 miles (64.5kms) away and Edinburgh just eight miles (13kms) from the Port of Rosyth. Facilities at the port aren't extensive, but there are some vending machines and a convenience store positioned at the ferry terminal building. Since the port's opening in the 1998, several businesses have started to operate around the port. Scottish Enterprise is planning to expand the Port of Rosyth and provide more comprehensive services as well as realising a new business infrastructure adjacent to the port. Superfast Ferries operates two vessels from the Port of Rosyth, Superfast X and Superfast IX. These highly advanced crafts navigate six days per week between the Scottish Port of Rosyth and the Belgian Port of Zeebrugge. It takes the vessels approximately 18 hours to reach Zeebrugge from Rosyth.
