Port of Portsmouth services

Portsmouth is one of the United Kingdom's best-linked ferry ports, connecting passengers with nine different ports across the waters. In addition, the city of Portsmouth is also the Royal Navy's historical home. The port is situated on England's southern coast, in the panoramic Hampshire region.

The extensive harbour boasts three modern terminals. Britain's second busiest continental ferry port can be found north of the Naval base. The Isle of Wight Passenger Ferry Terminal, operating services to the Port of Ryde, is positioned south of the Naval base, while south of the passenger ferry terminal, you can find the Isle of Wight Car Ferry Terminal, which runs services to the Port of Fishbourne.

The principal Continental Ferry Terminal provides amenities such as an information counter, bar, cafeteria, souvenir shop, newsagent, currency exchange service, picture booth, baby-changing room, public fax machine and payphones.

The travel centre's location is at the boarding lanes' end. The service provides a pub/café as well as money exchange, gift and motoring outlets. Passenger amenities at the two Isle of Wight ferry terminal buildings feature refreshment amenities, public telephones, cloakrooms, adapted toilets for physically disabled people and nearby car parking.

Four passenger ferry operators serve the Continental Ferry Terminal. Sea voyages to the French Port of Le Havre are operated by LD Lines, with a sailing time of approximately 5 hours, 30 minutes during daytime and services 7 hours, 30 minutes at night. If you wish to reach Spain, there are two weekly ferry services to the port of Bilbao in Spain, serviced by P&O Portsmouth, with a travel time of around 30 to 35 hours.

Brittany Ferries operates daily services to the French Port of Cherbourg, which takes about 3 hours on the express vessel. The conventional craft is significantly slower, with a travel time of 5 hours by day and approximately 8 hours at night. Brittany Ferries also operates a number of daily sailings to the Port of Caen in France. The duration of these services is approximately 6 hours during the daytime and about 8 hours at night, while the faster express vessels reach the Port of Caen in 3 hours, 45 minutes from Portsmouth. The ferry operator also sails to St Malo in France, with a travel time of 9 hours (daytime service) and 12 hours (night-time service).

Condor Ferries offers daily ferry services (except on Sundays) to the Port of St Helier on Jersey, lasting 10 hours, while the sea voyage to Guernsey's St Peter Port lasts approximately 6 hours, 30 minutes.

The passenger and car terminals are serviced by Wightlink Ferries. The company operates several daily sailings to Ryde on the Isle of Wight. The passenger service takes just 15 minutes, while the journey onboard the vehicle ferry lasts about 35 minutes.
