Ferry companies from Patras

Seven ferry operators run services from Patras to other Greek and Italian destinations. Several companies operate similar routes. During the summer season they offer daily services, while during low season decreased services are available. The operational companies include Hellenic Mediterranean Lines, Maritime Way, Superfast Ferries, Blue Star Ferries, Anek Ferries, Venice Line Ferries and Minoan Lines.

Anek Ferries

Originally Anek Lines is a Cretan company which operates the ferry service to Ancona from Patras, but with an en-route stop at the busy port of Igoumenitsa. Sailing times are 22 hours and there is the availability of a daily service in the summer months.

Two vessels share this route - the Hellenic Spirit and the Olympic Champion. The ships are constructed and designated similarly. The crafts are capable of carrying about 1,800 people and more than 1,000 cars. Both ships can reach a maximum cruising speed of 30 knots and provide comprehensive passenger amenities, featuring comfortable en-suite cabins, bars, restaurant, relaxing lounges and shops. Superfast Ferries

Every day Superfast Ferries operates crossings to the Port of Ancona in eastern Italy. The duration of the voyage is approximately 20 hours. Crossings to the Port of Bari are also daily operated with a sailing time of approximately 15 hours, 30 minutes. The ferries which are operational on the routes are conventional next generation single-hull vessels. These crafts can reach an average cruising speed of 30 knots and have a high car and passenger capacity. Minoan Lines

Minoan Lines is another well established shipping company which operates the Patras to Ancona route. The Greek company operates an ultra-modern fleet consisting of eight vessels, and has won the prestigious Lloyds List Passenger Line of 2005. The journey aboard their vessels takes about 20 hours. Venice is served via Corfu and Igoumenitsa with a total voyage time of 27 hours.

The Ariadne Palace, Europa Palace, and Olympia Palace are the vessels which operate the routes. All three crafts feature crafts state-of-the-art amenities and are capable of accommodating over 2,000 people and carrying 600 cars. The top cruising speed is 30 knots. Venice Line Ferries

Venice Line Ferries runs a faster service from Patras to Venice than the one Minoan Line provides. Venice Line Ferries operates a daily direct service to Venice reducing sailing time to 23 hours.

The Japanese built Kriti II and Lefka Ori can transport more than 1,500 persons and 1,100 vehicles. The ships are well equipped with some excellent facilities, such as: a café/bar and self-service restaurant, comfortable cabins, duty-free shopping, air-conditioned public areas, a disco, casino, video and slot machines and a pool.

Maritime Way

Maritime Way operates a daily service between Patras and Brindisi via the Greek Port of Igoumenitsa. Duration of the voyage is approximately 14 hours, 30 minutes. Available services during the winter months are fewer.

The operational ships on the route are the Elli T and Erotokritos. Both crafts can accommodate around 1,000 passengers and are capable of carrying 400 cars. Blue Star Ferries

Blue Star Ferries provides daily crossings to Ancona. It isn't a fast service as the route travels via Igoumenitsa. There is another service operated by the company running to Venice via Corfu and Igoumenitsa. The duration of this sea voyage lasts between 27 and 35 hours.

Blue Star Ferries is a Greek ferry company with a fleet of eight modern vessels. On all the vessels are limited specially designated cabins available for physically handicapped passengers. Hellenic Mediterranean Lines

From Patras, the Italian Port of Brindisi is also served by Hellenic Mediterranean Lines, with daily services in the summer and a few weekly sailings during the winter months. The journey takes 15 hours to complete. The conventional single-hull vessel, Egnatia, is not as fast as the other crafts but does feature outstanding facilities.
