Ferry routes from Kefalonia

Three main shipping companies operate ferry services from the Port of Sami on the island of Cefalonia. There are only two operators, which provide full services during the busy summertime. These services are from Sami to the Italian ports of Brindisi and Bari as well as year-round frequent navigations to the Greek destinations of Ithaca and Patras.

Sami to Bari ferries

Agoudimos Lines runs a frequent crossing on this route. During the peak season, there are up to four ferry services weekly and a reduced number of services during the low season. The sailing is operated by a huge overnight car ferry. It takes the vessel about 15 hours to reach the Port of Bari from Kefalonia.

At present day, ferries dock at the modern and new Bari Port, which is one of the region's most active facilities. The new Bari Port provides outstanding on-site amenities for passengers such as convenience stores, a tourist information service and banking facilities. Bari is a pivotal port facility in the southern Adriatic and a hub of commerce and culture for the Apulia region. Traditionally, it has been the gateway for Italy for passengers arriving from the Balkans and the Middle East. For enquiries regarding the Port of Bari, call: +39 80 5244488.

Sami to Brindisi ferries

Maritime Way runs a seasonal ferry service between Sami Port and the Port of Brindisi on the Puglia stretch of coastline in Italy. Daily ferry services are offered during high season (summer months), while the availability of services during the other months of the year are reduced.

The sea voyage is navigated by a big and well-equipped car and passenger ferry that takes about 12 hours to complete the journey. Brindisi, in Italy, boasts a vital ferry terminal that runs ferry services to a number of localities across the Adriatic. At the port, you'll find limited but good passenger facilities. The nearby town offers a range of banks, shops and restaurants. For more information about the Port of Brindisi, call: +39 8 31 21 022.

Sami to Patras and Ithaca ferries

The sailing between Sami and Patras on Greece's mainland includes an en-route stop at the nearby Ithaca Island. This service is provided by Strintzis Ferries, which operates a daily sea voyage with sailing times of just 1 hour, 30 minutes to Ithaca and 2 hours, 30 minutes to the Port of Patras.

Patras Port has been drastically renovated in recent years and now has the reputation as being one of the most active and finest-equipped Greek ports. Transport connections to the rest of the nation are excellent, signifying its reputation as the chief departure point for numerous passengers navigating to Greece's western islands.
