Hoek van Holland, or Hook of Holland as it is more popularly known in English means "Corner of Holland". The Port of Hook of Holland's main purpose is to serve as an entry point into Holland and Europe. Hook of Holland is a small town with a population of less than 10,000 inhabitants.

Hook of Holland is located on the New Waterway (Nieuwe Waterweg), opposite Harwich in Britain, which is the only destination served by passenger ferries from the port. Hook of Holland is a port in the province of South Holland, in the Netherlands.

The only passenger route to and from the Hook of Holland is operated by Stena Line with crossings up to 4 times daily. The ferry service is an ideal gateway to the rest of Holland and Northern Europe by train or traveling in your own vehicle.

Facilities at the ferry terminal include a bar, cafe and a convenience store. All ferries provide good onboard amenities including a currency exchange service, information counter, casino and a video lounge. The daytime vessels (not including 'Caravan Special' services) also include a play area for kids, restaurants, a sports bar, a coffee shop, a disco and a comfortable business lounge. Railway tickets are available from the onboard information counters.

The price for the ferry ticket includes check-in of up to two pieces of baggage; extra charges may apply for check-in of more than two pieces of luggage. Check-in for car and on foot passengers commences 1 hour, 30 minutes prior to departure. Embarkation starts 30 minutes before crossing time.

The ferry terminal building is accessible by wheelchair, with wheelchair-friendly washrooms, while guide dogs are also allowed to join their owners onboard the ferries. Passengers with physical disabilities should notify Stena Line before the sea voyage starts, so that the staff can make suitable arrangements. Two spacious passenger elevators provide access between the passenger and car deck. Telephoning in advance is required for persons travelling with companion animals.

Stena Line operates sea voyages from the Hook of Holland to Harwich, Essex, UK. This is the sole ferry passenger service available into and out of the Port of Hook of Holland, and usually, sailings operate four daily times. The morning ferry leaves at 07:20 and reaches Harwich at 10:10. The afternoon service departs at 16:00 and reaches Harwich at 18:30. The overnight ferry crossing leaves Hook of Holland at 22:00 and arrives in Harwich at 03:30, disembarking at 06:30. A 'Caravan Special' service leaves one a day at 14:30 and reaches the Port of Harwich at 20:00. Services are reduced around Christmas and on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
