The Port of Holyhead offers a vital sea connection between mainland Britain and the Republic of Ireland. The port is positioned on Holy Island in North Wales, which is linked by the Four Mile Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey.
In terms of operating ferry sailings to the Irish Republic, the Port of Holyhead is one of the mainland UK's chief ports. The town of Holyhead is situated on Holy Island. It is the largest town in the county with about 11,300 inhabitants.
