Ferry Companies from Calvi

There are two shipping companies currently running services to and from Calvi, Corsica. Corsica Ferries runs two sailings on the Calvi to Nice route, while SNCM Ferries provides crossings on two routes: Calvi to Marseille and Calvi to Nice; both of these important cities are positioned on France's southern coast.

Corsica Ferry Company

The Corsica Ferry Company has a fleet of eight vessels, with four especially designed for express passenger sailings and four larger crafts dedicated to a slwoer passenger and car service. The Calvi to Nice high-speed service is sailed by the Corsica Express II, which can accommodate over 500 passengers and has room for up to 150 cars, while the slow crossing is provided by a large roll on, roll off vessel capable of accommodating around 1,500 passengers and 500 cars.

Corsica Ferries operates a sea voyage from Nice to Calvi all year round, with ferries departing daily during the summer season. The journey takes about treee hours on the Express ferry and 5 hours, 30 minutes on the large conventional roll-on, roll-off ferry. Schedules for this route depend on weather conditions, with winter sailings often canceled due to bad weather conditions.

All the high-speed ferries in the Corsica Ferry fleet are modern, well-equipped and highly advanced crafts, with comfortable seating and fun play areas for children and adults alike, while the bigger passenger and vehicle ships come equipped with a cinema, swimming pool, and a choice of restaurants.

SNCM Ferry Company

The SNCM Ferry Company operates sailings between Calvi and the southern French port of Nice up to six times a week during the peak season, with a crossing time of three hours. SNCM also provides a weekly overnight service between Calvi and Marseille, with a crossing time of around 11 hours. The schedules for both routes vary throughout the year, so passengers are advised to check with the company for an up-to-date timetable prior to departure.

SNCM Ferries has a fleet of 10 crafts, with five big cruise ferries sailing the longer routes, four smaller vessels running the overnight sailing from Marseille and one high-speed craft operational for short passenger crossings.

SNCM's overnight crossing from Calvi to Marseille is operated by one of the SNCM's four medium-sized vessels, with the Paglia Orba and the Pascal Paoli being the most regularly used. Both of these modern ships can accommodate up to 550 passengers and have a 130 cars capacity. All of the operator's medium-sized ferries are fully-equipped for the overnight voyage, with relaxed cabins, an excellent choice of entertainment areas and self-service and a la carte restaurants.

The crossing from Calvi to Nice is serviced by the company's larger cruise liners that are capable of transporting up 800 cars and 2,500 passengers and 800 cars. All crafts serving this route are excellently equipped with amenities including movie theatres, eateries and outlets.
