Green guide to ferry services launched

A green travel web site has launched a guide to ferry crossings.
Greentraveller.co.uk, an online guide to green travel, has launched a new green guide to ferries. The guide makes it easy for travellers to plan ferry journeys for foot passengers crossing between Ireland, the UK and the European continent. In the online planner, visitors find details of transfers between ferries and public transport at ferry ports, pricing, and sample journey itineraries. The guide also provides direct links to ticket booking. Greentraveller.co.uk set up the guide with assistance from the Passenger Shipping Association.
Richard Hammon, Greentraveller.co.uk’s CEO and founder, said travelling as a foot passenger on traditional ferry services is one of the most ecologically-sound ways to get between Ireland, the UK and Europe but it can often be hard to gather information about the links between public transport and the various ferry networks both at home and abroad. He said the new online planner shows how easily someone can travel to a ferry port by train or bus and then hop on a ferry to travel to Ireland or continental Europe, where they can then continue their journey. The planner helps travellers ensure they enjoy international travel that is both convenient and green.
