Ferry operator is introducing self-check in across four key routes.

Leading ferry operator LD Lines is introducing leading-edge technology that allows it to provide passengers with self-check in services. The pioneering technology is letting LD Lines become the first operator of cross-channel ferries to provide self check-in facilities. The first route to support the new service is the Portsmouth – Le Havre sailing. In the first phase of the programme, self check-in kiosks for foot passengers are provided at the Le Havre and Portsmouth ports. Soon, bookings and tickets will also be available using the same facilities.

The second phase of the plan will see LD Lines introduce self check-in facilities for vehicle and passengers at the same ports. The new facilities should be in place for the start of the summer high season. Christophe Santoni, managing director at LD Lines, said the provision of an efficient and hassle-free service at the ferry operator’s ports was an important extension of the enjoyable on-board experience. He said passengers would continue to have the option to use the traditional methods of checking-in but the new facilities will offer a fast, convenient and modern alternative that further improves the levels of service available.
