Stena Line introduces "cruiseferry" concept between Belfast and Stanraer ferry ports

Stena Line has announced its plans to significantly boost its northern corridor fleet. From November this year, Stena Navigator will join HSS Stena Voyager and Stena Caledonia to offer links between the Stranraer and Belfast ferry ports.

The introduction of Stena Navigator will also bring the ferry company's new "cruiseferry" concept into practice, with the latest vessel providing a number of upgrades. This latest ferry to ply on the Scotland to Northern Ireland link will offer extended passenger areas and other conveniences like free entertainment and free wifi.

The addition of a new vessel on this route will allow Stena Line to offer up to fourteen daily crossings between Stanraer and Belfast. This, says Stena Line's Irish Sea general manager Dermot Cairns, will provide customers with a wider range of timetable and ferry options.

Cairns has said that the introduction of the Stena Navigator on this route would help the ferry company to expand in time to prepare for what they are hoping will be an increasingly buoyant 2010.

Despite prevalent challenging trading conditions, the ferry company has expressed confidence in the future, and is now investing in the infrastructure and expansion it will need to give itself a competitive advantage when the economic upturn arrives, Cairns added.

The addition of the new ferry on the route between Belfast and Stanraer will also allow Stena Line to make adequate changes on its timetable of services, to provide timings more suitable to its customer base. The revised timetables are set to be released next week.
