Isle of Man Steam Packet Company launch new vessel
Even though it is located so close to England, the Isle of Man is one holiday destination that often gets overlooked, despite its natural charm and beauty. However, that should soon change as the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company launch their new vessel, the Manannan this month.
The Manannan will be open to inspection to the public on June 23rd before setting sail around the coast of the Isle of Man on June 30th. The ferry’s maiden voyage will be celebrated with a buffet and spectacular views of the Isle of Man’s coastline.
The Manannan is being launched on the heels of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s successful fast ferry. The company seem confident that this new service will be just as popular.
"We have received a lot of positive feedback since Manannan entered service,” Mark Woodward, chief executive of the Steam Packet Company commented recently to the media. "She has performed exceptionally well during TT 2009 and now that her schedule has eased off, I am delighted to invite members of the public onboard to share in all that Manannan has to offer."
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company began operating in 1830, making it the world’s oldest continually operating passenger shipping company. The company also has an impressive health and safety record, so passengers can be sure that they’re in safe hands.
