New fast catamaran to operate LD Lines Dover to Boulogne route
LD Lines who operate a cross channel route from Dover to Boulogne have announced that they will be launching a new high speed catamaran to operate from May on this new route for LD having taken over this crossing when SpeedFerries ceased trading last November.
The catamaran will be able to take 1200 passengers as well as 147 cars or a combination of 195 cars and 567 lane metres of freight. Journey time will be just 1 hour that’s 45 minutes faster than its conventional ferries on the same route.
The catamaran will make 4 return journeys a day and LD Lines say that by being able to take freight on board and the fact that fuel prices have lowered over the last 12 months that this will allow the crossings to be efficiently run even outside of the peak season.
