A NorthLink ferry passenger and a crew member were injured on Wednesday when the vessel rolled in heavy seas.
After the ferry docked in Shetland, the two inured men were taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital by ambulance. Later in the day they were reported to be in stable condition.
The NorthLink Hrossey departed Aberdeen on Tuesday night at 7:00pm on its scheduled Shetland service. Passengers on the ferry reported that the crossing became quite rough in the early morning hours. Later reports indicated force nine winds from the south east, and a high sea.
A passenger from Burra, Richard Flemming, commented: "At 6am the boat took a heavy roll and I believe there were two people injured. An engineer in a white boiler suit fell over in the engine room and damaged his shoulder, and I believe a second guy fell down some stairs and damaged his head.”
He added: "They were taken off the ferry by ambulance before they let any of the passengers off."
Louise Mouat, who was travelling with her family, added: "It was okay until five or six o'clock in the morning, when you started skipping around in your bed. I really didn't like it and my nephew woke up as well. Mum fell out of her bed at one point. No, it wasn't very good.”
