Glenton Holidays, operating domestic coach tours, expects to achieve record-breaking sales in 2009.

Last year the Scottish company reported record sales of £5.5 million, and so far this year they are 25 per cent ahead of 2008.

Glenton carried nearly 30,000 passengers last year, and expects to see approximately 40,000 this year, following expansion of its operations both in Scotland and in North East England.

Steve Turbill, the company’s commercial director, said: “Last year was our best ever – however, the strength of our bookings so far this year has taken us by surprise as people are increasingly choosing to holiday in the UK.”

He went on to say: “Also, with a coach holiday customers can budget more easily, as most costs are included such as excursions, accommodation and meals. We have added 17 more departure points across Scotland to cope with rising demand and have just launched a programme of tours from the North East of England.”

The coach tours company was founded in 2005 by industry executives Paul Bennett, Harriet Stamp and Steve Turbill.

Stamp and Turbill had held senior roles in the coach holiday sector, and Bennett had established the coaching specialist company, The UK Holiday Group, back in 1984.

Glasgow-based Glenton Holidays says that it is the fastest-growing coach holiday operator in Scotland, and the only major specialist to be an ABTA member.
