Economy and Transport Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones has announced a new fast train service for Wales.
The fast train service connecting Cardiff and Holyhead will start from December 2008, and it is said that the time for the trip will be reduced by at least a half hour.
There have already been complaints that the service will not include Wrexham.
Jones, the Deputy First Minister, also announced that the Welsh Assembly Government will support new service between Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff, which will operate at 30-minutes intervals from May of 2009.
What this will mean to rail passengers travelling from Bangor to Cardiff is a journey time of under four hours.
"This service will make train travel between the north and south of our country a practical and attractive alternative to taking the car - expanding choice, uniting the nation and encouraging sustainable transport options,” he added.
"The new return service - one of the commitments made in the One Wales programme of government and operated by Arriva Trains Wales - will also offer passengers a Premier Class option - providing a faster, greener and more comfortable alternative to the car."
