Ferry fire on Our Lady Pamela

An engine fire broke out on a Wighlink passenger ferry this week
On April 15th, a Wightlink passenger ferry placed a distress call to the Solent Coastguard reporting and engine fire. ‘Our Lady Pamela’, the ferry in question, proceeded towards Ryde Pier seeking safety, which battling the blaze.
Ryde and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Teams were called in by the Coastguard to respond to the problem. In addition, the Coastguard requested that the Bembridge Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats be launched.
The ferry arrived safely at Ryde Pier. There were 85 passengers on board at the time and, along with the members of the ferry’s crew, they were discharged. There were no injuries or problems reported from those on board.
The Isle of Wight Police and Ambulance services attended the disembarking and assured that everything went well. The Coastguard Rescue Teams and the Isle of Wight Fire Service remained on board to extinguish the fire after all civilians had been evacuated and to supervise the situation.
