Half a million in funding from Northlink

The NorthLInk ferry company will once again show its dedication to the local economy and community spirit by launching a community sponsorship program beginning April 1st to the tune of ₤500,000.

This huge amount of money represents the entire amount NorthLink has sponsored since 2002, making this year’s effort a very magnanimous one, indeed. The initiative has been set in place to offer support to sporting groups, local charities, individual projects or to offer transportation between the Scottish mainland and the islands of Orkney and Shetland.

Those seeking sponsorship for any eligible program should apply now to assure their petition is given due consideration before the program starts in April. Marketing project manager for NorthLink Elaine Tulloch says, “The broad range of our sponsorship recipients reflects virtually the entire spectrum of island life. NorthLink is a company which exists primarily for the Orkney and Shetland communities and, on top of our islanders’ discounted fares scheme, this sponsorship programme now in its six year and having clocked up around half a million pounds reflects that.”
