Ferry service was disrupted last week

On March 6th, ferry services from Mersey had to be cancelled due to technical problems. The ferry service went back into operation later in the day.

The Royal Daffodil had problems with its engines, causing commuter services and cruises to be cancelled for the day.

Merseytravel, the group responsible for the ferry operations, apologized to the passengers for the inconvenience.

In place of the ferry, commuters were able to take a train from James Street to Hamilton Square using their ferry ticket. A bus service transported travelers from Hamilton Square to Seacombe.

Merseytravel operates three vessels including the flagship, the Royal Daffodil. The boats operate as ferries across the river and can also be chartered for cruises. The first Royal Daffodil was in service since World War I, and was later replaced with the luxurious Royal Daffodil 2.

Merseytravel is currently offering visitors to their website the chance to enter and win two tickets on the Manchester Ship Canal Cruise. The cruise takes passengers along one of the country’s most famous canals.
