Ferry link proves an attractive option
When travelling around the British Isles, the option of using a ferry service is bound to come up, and there are many good options available for tourists when it comes to getting around from one island to another. A spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents claimed that families opting for ferry travel get a ‘different kind of holiday’, citing the relaxing voyages over the seas as part of the journey’s excitement.
"I just think it offers customers and families another choice, really – it's a very different experience," said ABTA spokesman Frances Tuke, "I think people are thinking very differently about how they travel and so green issues do come to the forefront." The ferry as a more environmentally friendly travel option has caught on with many travellers, and the Dover shipping port has reported a boom in passenger crossings to mainland Europe, to Boulogne, Dunkerque and Calais.
Last year during the Eatser hliday weekend, over 200,00 passengers used the ferry in their transport plans, a 7 percent increase from 2006.
