Speedferries lone ferry out of service

Small accident puts ferry service temporarily on hold.
The only vessel of Speedferries crashed into a pier on Friday, leaving the ferry operator with no choice but to temporarily close their services.
The SpeedOne catamaran was being berthed around 8pm when it crashed into a pier, reportedly leaving a small hole in the boat.
A spokesperson for the company said: "Some water was taken on board but it was dealt with by our own engineers. There was a small puncture hole on the left-hand side, which has already been repaired. We're now awaiting the authorities to inspect her before she can be operational again."
Speedferries is the only operator offering a service to and from Boulogne, so passengers who had pre-booked a ride had to choose from other routes on other companies.
A port worker from the Western Docks told the Kent News that Speedferries runs on a very tight budget.
'It was a minor accident, but for this company it is a real blow,' he said.
