Canary Wharf to host WTTC forum
Ferry Online Travel News 11/09/2007
Wharf not just for ferries anymore...
The World Travel and Tourism Council is made up of the cream of the crop of the travel and tourism industry, comprising of the chief executives of the top 100 companies in the racket worldwide. The next meeting of these influential industry leaders will take place at Canary Wharf in London starting today.
The WTTC's members, the top 100 travel and tourism companies in the world, will be discussing many points to be sure, but one of the big issues on the schedule is to do with the hosting country, England and Great Britain in general.
It has been estimated that the United Kingdom travel and tourism industry will grow by 4.3% year by year, meaning £341.4 billion to the industry between now and 2017. The big question isn't who will profit from the increased visits to the UK, but more that, is the UK ready to handle the increase?
The WTTC is in regular contact with government agencies that are related to the effects of tourism, and British departments dealing with infrastructure for example, must work with the WTTC to determine if any improvements need to be made.
